Meeting Jeanie

Someone made me cry tonight. Not because I was wronged or hurt, but because of their beauty. Strange I know, but true. The feeling was foreign to me, because I’ve never cried over someone’s beauty. I’m not quite talking about her physical beauty, even though she was, but her inner beauty is what captured me. I didn’t even notice her at first. She wasn’t asking for anything, just sitting contently with her life in the bag next to her. As she talked to me, I felt the love of God. Nothing supernatural happened, just a beautiful woman...

Lost Ones

Atlanta is a famous city and word is spreading fast around the globe. No, it’s not because Atlanta hosted the 1996 Olympics or because of its rich history for being the birthplace of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It’s not because Atlanta is home to many celebrities like Usher and Elton John, Fortune 500 companies and the like. Its most important claim to fame in this day and age is sex. That’s right, sex. Word is spreading like wildfire that Atlanta is the place to go for sex. Greater Heights

Imagine being there. Your eyes look around the room, realizing heroes surround you. Not men with swords, or Generals of vast armies, but the true unsung heroes of the world. The woman who left her comfortable suburban Kentucky life to devote herself to ending forced prostitution and sex slavery in Bolivia. The man who left his normal life in Florida, choosing instead to devote himself to ministering to countless children and families who live amongst the worlds trash dumps. The mortal men and women whom angels take notice and applaud. Those...

How to be Free

So much more than a ministry in the traditional sense, Set Free is a welcome place for those who have lost their way in life. Through the support of local churches, Set Free welcomes men whom society has believed have used more than their share of second chances. Through biblically focused rehabilitation, men are returned from the edge of darkness into a life of reconciliation, freedom, and family. We have had the absolute joy of partnering with Set Free since 2009. A loving home to many, we are welcomed with hugs, handshakes, and smiles from...

Good News

Our destination, an unsuspecting building located on the property of a shuttered chicken processing plant . Our welcome was through an unmarked door which fed into a dark hallway. Worship music was being sung to the tune of feet stomping upon the tile, and hands clapping to the beat. A long, narrow sanctuary filled with people of all colors, ages, and sizes greeted our team. We quietly found our seats and attempted to join with the chorus of voices.   The night involved a message of hope and perseverance, dinner, and a...

Laughter is Contagious

Arriving to the apartment complex at dusk, our multicultural team of 15 came bearing gifts any child would immediately recognize and covet; water shooters, giant bouncy balls, jump-ropes, and the ever important bounce house. It’s incredible how quickly information disperses when children are involved. Within thirty minutes of our arrival children began emerging from their quiet morning routines of cereal and Saturday morning cartoons. Still in their pajamas, we instructed some to return home and dress in their very best play...
